True Love Waits finally got its proper recorded version after twenty years of live performances. It was worth the wait and somehow sadder for it.

Coppola understands that the most meaningful connections exist in the space between words — the shared glance across a hotel bar, the 3am corridor, the ending we're not allowed to hear. The loneliness here is specific and true. Bill Murray barely acts and that's the whole point.

The most quietly joyful book I've read in years. It's about a man who loses everything — freedom, status, the world — and responds with elegance and curiosity. Towles writes with such warmth. I read it during a strange, stuck period of my own life and it did something useful to me.
